…fulltext of a scholarly article

Enter the title, author, or keywords into the main search box at the top of the chemTK website (Search our collections…).

HINT	For best results, enter the exact phrase; however, you can also use parts of the title, authors, keywords, or a combination of these.
HINT	Use the left sidebar to narrow your search.

You can find information about the availability for each result. If the article is available, select its title or Full Text Online to open the SFX window. You will then see the item's availability for NTK/UCT/IOCB using the tabs. Select Full text available via.

HINT	If you are not logged in yet, you will be prompted to enter your username and password for either NTK or UCT/IOCB.

…a book/journal from print chemTK collection

Select Catalog below the main search box. In the catalog, enter the title, author, ISBN or other information in the search box.

HINT	For best results, use the pulldown menu and enter the relevant phrase. Use the right sidebar to narrow your search.

Select the requested title to check its availability and location:

For loan

You can check the item out, order it from storage, or reserve it (if it is checked out to someone else). For this, be sure to be registered at NTK.

If the item is available, you can see its location, including floor and shelf, by checking the call number in the Location column (e.g., 5th floor, shelf 5C/331). The link displays a map with the specific location in the library.

Not for loan

The item is for in-library use only or is located in a UCT department.
You can filter books from the specific departmental libraries, too - see instructions.

On permanent loan

The item is deposited in the personal library of an UCT employee. You can contact info for the UCT department library using the link in the Location column (e.g., 110 ÚOCH).

The item is deposited in the personal library of an IOCB employee. There is 4-digit number together with "X" in the Old Callnumber column then.

The item is located in the IOCB reading room. The entry in the Old Callnumber column indicates the location in the reading room (e.g., Och).

…specific eJournal

Select eJournals A-Z below the main search box and enter a journal title, part of a title, or a shortcut in the search box.

From the list of results, select the journal title or the red SFX icon to open the SFX window. You will then see the item's availability for NTK/UCT/IOCB using the tabs. Select Full text available via.

…specific eBook

Select eBooks A-Z below the main search box and enter a journal title, part of a title, author, or ISBN in the appropriate search box.

From the list of results, select the book title or the red SFX icon to open the SFX window. You will then see the item's availability for NTK/UCT/IOCB using the tabs. Select Full text available via.

…list of available collections of electronic resources

Select All eResources below the main search box.

In the eResources table, you will find an overview of all available electronic resources searchable by publisher or topic (fulltext/bibliographic/citation/structural databases, encyclopedias, dictionaries).

Access the resource using the button on the right site for your institution.

HINT	Login or installation is needed when accessing some resources; pay attention to the info link in these cases.
